HCM City is launching a series of activities at the Book Street and Paris Square in District 1 to celebrate Việt Nam Book and Reading Cultural Day (April 21) until April 22.

Best-selling author Nguyễn Nhật Ánh has been named the reading culture ambassador of HCM City in 2024-2025.

HCM City and other provinces are organising numerous activities to encourage and firm up reading habits, especially among children and young people.

The 2024 Việt Nam Book and Reading Culture Day will take place from April 15 to May 1, with digital transformation to be boosted to bring books to more readers, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

This year Yên Minh District has expanded the Fish Festival to a large scale, with a series of activities including a fish race, a competition catching fish by hand on the rice paddy fields, a fish roasting competition, and making sticky rice buns with fish dumplings.
