Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday that a nation cannot progress without knowing and analysing its history.
He made these remarks at the inauguration of a heritage trail at the historical Nandana Fort in Jhelum, as part of the Al-Beruni Radius Tourism Project.
"Our archaeologists did little, in fact, nothing, to preserve our heritage," the premier said. "Even Moenjo Dero and Harappa were discovered by foreigners," he lamented.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government is promoting tourism to earn foreign exchange and generate employment in the country.
Talking to media at Nandana Fort in Jehlum district today (Sunday), he said Pakistan has immense potential for mountain, coastal and historic sites' tourism.
He said Nandana Fort is the place, where great Muslim Scientist Abu Rayhan al-Biruni had measured the circumference of the Earth. He said Nadana was a seat of learning in the past, which needs to be showcased in the world.
He said the government is going to develop this spot as modern village to provide facilities to tourists. He said this will bring the entire area on the world tourism map.

NANDANA FORT, JHELUM: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday shared the government's plan to boost tourism in Pakistan and said that the tourism industry has a big potential to provide employment to people.
According to
Geo.tv, the premier was speaking to journalists in Multan after the inauguration of the  Al-Biruni Radius — a tourism project developed for the revival of the country's heritage.
The PM said that Pakistan has three areas of tourism in Pakistan — the mountains, the seas and the coastline — adding that ancient sites are also very important in terms of tourism for the country.

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the newly notified nature reserves would help boost adventure, historic and heritage tourism in the area along with generating green jobs and business opportunities for locals under 10 Billion Tree Tsunami.
Talking to this agency with regard to three newly inaugurated interconnected nature reserves spreading over Parera, Ara and Dil Jabba areas of 18,000 acres in Chakwal district of the Punjab, he said these reserves were home to the most attractive tourist and heritage sites of Tilla Jogian, Nandana Fort, Sikki waterfall, Sikki Lake and most interesting paragliding point.
