Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal has asked a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to reject computer-generated documents sought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be tendered as exhibits in his alleged N544 million contract fraud trial.
Lawal told the court that the forensic laboratory report generated from a computer was not admissible because they were not in their original form and not certified as required by law.
The EFCC through, Ofem Uket, had sought to tender a forensic laboratory report obtained from an iPhone print out belonging to one Musa Bulani to establish the money laundering charges filed against the former SGF and five others. ....

The prosecution witness, a relationship manager in the Sales Department, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mohammed Babansule, tendered the statement of account of one of the companies, Josmon Technologies Ltd., the sixth defendant.
Some other documents tendered by the bank official were the Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum of Understanding, AEDC receipts, Letter of reference, International passport page of Apeh Monday, the fourth defendant, and board resolution to open an account, all for the sixth defendant.
Babansule while giving evidence in chief had said that the statement of account for the sixth defendant was generated from the computer system of the bank, printed, signed, endorsed, and certified by the bank before sending the same to the EFCC. ....

EFCC) on Wednesday called its first witness in the restarted trial of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, and six others accused of N544m grass-cutting contract fraud.
A relationship manager in the Sales Department of the Wuse Zone 4, Abuja branch of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mohammed Babasule, tendered the statement of account and account opening documents of one of the companies standing trial along with Mr Lawal and the other defendants on Wednesday. ....
