This was made known by the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Malam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah on Thursday at a briefing in Abuja. He explained that the total number of approved broadcast licenses by Buhari were 473, with the number of functional broadcast stations in Nigeria now 740.
A Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos State, has issued an order to stop the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the National Broadcasting Commission from shutting down 53 broadcast stations in the country. A civic group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), on Monday confirmed the ruling via its official Twitter handle, claiming that the order was given by the court in a suit filed by the group and the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
