Music director Vanraj Bhatia dies at 93 in Mumbai
Veteran music director Vanraj Bhatia died at his residence in South Mumbai on May 5. He was 93.

Veteran music director and National Award winner Vanraj Bhatia died at his residence in South Mumbai today (May 7). He was 93. Vanraj Bhatia was suffering from age-related ailments for some time. He had composed music for several films including Manthan, Bhumika, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro!, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Droh Kaal and Junoon, among others. He has also composed music for famous television shows like Tamas and Bharat Ek Khoj. Bhatia is called the foremost composer of western classical music of India. He won a National Film Award for Tamas, which was directed by Govind Nihalani. In 2012, Bhatia was also conferred with the Padma Shri Award.
