11:28 Emails obtained by WAMC News using the Freedom of Information Act show how the city of Pittsfield, Massachusetts developed a strategy to remove unhoused people from public parks in fall 2020 – and why the unfinished plan was scrapped just before it was set to go into effect. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- A survey seeking community input on the proposed pump track and bike skills park in Springside Park generated about 96 responses in two weeks. A good majority of the responses were positive, though there was an array of concerns about the project including safety, the pump track's impact on Springside Park, and maintenance. Construction Ashuwillticook Rail Trail Extension to Pittsfield Begins

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire County's rail trail will continue into Pittsfield in the next year and then through South County in the future. In mid-December, construction began on the extension of the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail that will connect Adams to Pittsfield. This 1.56-mile extension will run south from the vicinity of mall Connector Road to Crane Avenue.
