The driver went off the road and struck a tree, and the vehicle caught fire. A witness told police that the driver was unable to get out. Firefighters pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The crash happened Sunday morning near the Nave Drive overcrossing, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 75-year-old man veered out of the northbound lanes and flipped the vehicle on Nave Drive, police said.
