U.S. Navy sailor Nathan C. Hammond, a native of Orange County, California, was meritoriously promoted to petty officer first class today, during a surprise ceremony.
The Meritorious Advancement Program allows command triads to advance their most qualified sailors ahead of each of the semi-annual Navy-wide Advancement Cycles.

Hammond enlisted in the United States Navy in October 2014. Following graduation from basic training in December 2014 Hammond attended Logistics Specialist school in Meridian, Mississippi. After completing Logistics Specialist school, Hammond attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut.
