North Carolina food stamp recipients will continue to receive the maximum benefit amount through February, regardless of their eligibility. North Carolina residents receiving Food and Nutrition Services benefits will continue to receive the maximum amount for their household size for the month of February, even if they qualify for less. FNS began offering enhanced benefits in March of 2020 to help low-income families access food during the pandemic.
A new dashboard from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services allows residents to track information about the state’s early care and learning network. Users can now currently view and download information about the state’s child care and learning centers from 2018 to 2021. Data can be sorted by a facility’s star rating, the type of child care provider, or by county.
State officials say the surge of the omicron COVID-19 variant has led to the re-emergence of racial and ethnic disparities. Data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services shows that the rate of COVID-19 infections is once again disproportionally impacting Black and Hispanic residents.
