Couriers step in to support man being racially abused
“He started saying racist words that I don’t want to repeat, and he started getting angry.” The man used racial slurs, telling Wang that this was not his community. Wang said the man also tried to speak Mandarin, possibly in an attempt to anger him, but it was incomprehensible. Tom Wang, centre, thanks New Zealand Post delivery contractors Karl Vinton and Dallas Pengelly after they came to his aid during a racial attack in Nelson. Wang also started filming the incident, and warned the man he would call police if he kept abusing him. He told him that this was his community too.
