With 243 affirmative votes, 3 negative votes, and no abstention, the chamber passed House Bill 6715, which seeks to mandate all cities and municipalities, classified as urban, to conform with and implement plans, programs, and activities guided by Ambisyon 2040, as well as the Philippine Standards for Sustainable Cities and Communities. House approves 15% mandatory LGU allocation for health services

MANILA - The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved on final reading a proposal mandating all local government units (LGUs) to earmark at least 15 percent of their annual national tax allotment share for health services. With 224 affirmative votes, 0 negative votes, and no abstention, the chamber passed House Bill 10392, which seeks to amend Section 287 of the Local Government Code of 1991 to ensure the appropriation of at least 15 percent of the share of LGUs from all national taxes or revenues for health services. The bill provides that copies of the health programs, including the provision of free medicines for indigent patients of local government units, shall be furnished to the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Health (DOH). (PNA file photo) MANILA - The House of Representatives has allocated PHP20 billion for the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines and booster shots, as well as PHP4.5 billion for the special risk allowance of public and private health care workers. House Appropriations Committee chair Eric Yap said these are among the amendments introduced by the small committee to House Bill 10153 or the proposed PHP5.024-trillion budget for 2022, which would be "crucial for our full recovery from the pandemic as a nation". "After careful consideration and consultations, we have finalized the amendments for HBN 10153. As illustrated, we have appropriated additional budget to the following agencies to further enable them to swiftly, efficiently, and effectively address the needs of the Filipino people," Yap said.
