Any delay in budget cuts would have to go through brussels and washington. you have to remember, of course, that ireland's negotiating hand is pretty weak. the country is reliant on the support from the eu and the imf now. and if those two bodies don't agree, then, you know, ireland doesn't get paid. so they're calling the shots. and if there is a delay in repaying that money, it will be with the full agreement of eu partners and with the imf because ireland simply can't afford to act alone. >> justin mccarthy in dublin. well, emily, we go from a struggling economy to a very much growing one...

Bar tab is there now. if it's about revenue and the republicans reject, where does that leave the negotiating hand for the democrats in the future? >> let's come back on january 3rd and let's talk about what we're going to do because everybody will be paying clinton-era rates then. that would create $4 trillion of deficit reduction. that's probably a little too much out of revenues over the short-term so let's go back to child tax credit and some middle income tax relief and that, but let's keep a substantial portion of the revenue. then we don't have to talk about stupid across the board cuts...
