Time to kick up your heels at Coast's first mardi gras
Organiser Neil Car said he was thrilled to be hosting the first mardi gras. "It's a day to celebrate diversity of race, sexualities and gender identities, in a family-friendly LGBTQI+ event," he said. "The biggest thing is we can't do anything without our allies, our friends and our family, this is why it's an event for everyone." Mr Car said he was inspired during the COVID-19 lockdown to kick start the festivities. "We knew that events wouldn't be like they used to be, then mardi gras in Sydney went into a stadium," Mr Car said. "We thought we should do something up this way.
