HOTSPOT: Nelson Square in Bolton town centre A BOLTON town centre hospitality hotspot is set to be closed to traffic for four days a week to give premises more space to serve customers outside. Nelson Square, home to a number of popular venues, is due to be blocked off to vehicles from Thursdays to Sundays so businesses can make the most of their outdoor space with the use of pavement licences. The Bar on Nelson Square A TOWN centre bar is set to have its licence reviewed after being accused of serving alcohol to customers without substantial meals when strict coronavirus rules were in place last year. Police and council enforcement officers went to The Bar on Nelson Square on October 30 last year, seven days after Greater Manchester was put in the government's coronavirus alert level of "very high". A team of local breweries have come together in solidarity to brew a new beer together in lockdown. Led by Rivington Brewing Co., the teams from Northern Monkey, in Nelson Square, Escape Brewery, based in Horwich/Westhoughton, Blackedge Brewery, in Horwich, Withnell's in Chorley, and Tin Head Brewery in Bradley Fold, have made a new pale ale called 'Close Quarters'.
