Since January of this year, a total of 496 fires have occurred across the country, leaving at least 13 people dead and 43 others injured while damaging 610 houses and 80 merchant stalls at markets.
Fewer lives were lost to fires year-to-date when compared to the same period last year, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Fire Prevention and Extinguishing and Rescue. However, the number of injured has risen, as had the number of damaged homes.

Fires killed or injured 25 people while also damaging 300 houses and 38 market stalls in the first three months of this year, according to data from the National Police’s Department of Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue. The report shows that there were 186 fires that broke out, a decrease of 52 cases compared to the same period in 2021.
