Phnom Penh, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) An estimated 761 fires were reported in Cambodia in 2023, and 54 people were killed due to those incidents, according to official figures released in this capital.
This year has seen a worrying uptick in fires, with 516 blazes reported in the first six months, a rise of 144 from the same period last year.
Seventeen people were killed and 59 others injured in fires nationwide in 2022, according to the annual report of the National Police’s Department of Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue on the year’s incidence of fires in the Kingdom.
Since January of this year, a total of 496 fires have occurred across the country, leaving at least 13 people dead and 43 others injured while damaging 610 houses and 80 merchant stalls at markets.
