Indonesia: New Broadcasting Bill threatens democracy and press freedom
Proposed revisions to Indonesia's Broadcasting Bill have ignited widespread condemnation due to draconian restrictions that would impact democracy and press freedom, including a ban on investigative journalism. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins its affiliates, the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Indonesia and SINDIKASI, in strongly condemning the proposed revisions, and urging the Indonesian government to withdraw it and ensure press freedom.
