Span of bridge collapses in Bihar's Kishanganj, probe underway
An under-construction bridge over Mechi River on NH-327 E between Galgaliya and Araria collapsed, raising questions over the quality of construction. This is the 11th bridge collapse in Bihar over the past three years. An expert team has been sent to investigate, and the project director of NHAI, Bihar, has promised to take stringent action based on the report. The bridge is part of a widening project of the NH-327E road, aimed at reducing the distance to reach Siliguri by about 80 km.
