As the announcement of the uk government's net—zero plans coincided with fresh warnings about melting antarctic ice. a new report has warned rapidly melting is causing a dramatic slowdown in deep ocean currents which could have a disastrous effect on the climate. dr liz thomas is head of ice core research british antarctic survey. to just help us to understand what the impact of this is on those deep water currents that i mention and why they are so important.- water currents that i mention and why they are so important. high. so the really important _ why they are so important. high. so the...
Power and solar power is you need to have a consistent supply of that stuff to back it up. you have the same problem with the wind. the problem is wind is it doesn't blow all the time. when you are not talking, geraldo. >> can ask a question -- >> go ahead, i am in a good mood. [laughter] speak i was the planet getting warmer, dan? >> is the planet getting warmer? it depends on how you measure it -- >> electric -- >> ways, let me answer the question -- if you look at endocrinology and ice core data which is completely unreliable, the answer is, it depends. it's like saying are you older then? ...
And the problem with theh baseload power and solar power haveu need to a consistent supply of thatyo stuff to back it up. probl you haveem the same problem with wind. the problem with wind is wind doesn't blow all the time when you're not talking. i'm kidding.>> i have three questions. yeah, go ahead. go . >> i'm in a good mood tonight is the planet game. >> he said yes. my answer warmer. it depends on how you get paid for electricity. m you asked me the question electric. wait, wait, wait. no, no, let me answer the question. if you're ready for the movie, you can look if you look at dendrochr...
Dust particle studies in ice cores from the tropical Andes provide important information about climate dynamics. We investigated dust concentrations from a 22.7 m ice-core recovered from the Quelccaya Ice Cap (QIC) in 2018, representing 14 years of snow accumulation. The dust seasonality signal was still preserved with homogenization of the record due to surface melting and percolation. Using a microparticle counter, we measured the dust concentration from 2–60 μm and divided the annual dust concentration into three distinct groups: fine particle percentage (FPP, 2−10 μm), coarse particl...
