Des Moines Register One night in 2015, alto vocalist Jeni Grouws decided to walk across the street from her hotel in Bettendorf for a jam session at a since-closed venue that called itself Muddy Waters, blending the name of the Chicago blues legend with a nod to the nearby Mississippi. There she met and performed with musicians Chris Avey and Bryan West, who became fast friends.
