Protest over denial of permission for ambulances on flyovers
The six-lane flyovers at Vyttila and Kundannoor will be opened to traffic on January 9 by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
This follows completion of load test over both the structures and their report being submitted to the government, said a press release.

Meanwhile, the police restrained activists of V4Kerala from opening the Vyttila flyover to motorists on Thursday evening. The activists expressed outrage at the government for not permitting even ambulances on the flyovers whose work got over a month ago, despite massive traffic hold-ups at the junction. They termed the inordinate delay in opening the flyovers as unpardonable. The formal inauguration could be done any day later on, party leaders said. ....

Two members leave outfit; move to expand it at State-level triggers rebellion
Just days after putting up a performance scuttling the prospects of major fronts in numerous divisions in the Kochi Corporation, V4 Kochi, the apolitical outfit that emerged just months before the local body polls, seems to be floundering under the weight of internal squabbles.
Foji John, one of the founding members of V4 Kochi, and Jesme Jose, coordinator of its women’s wing, returned to the Aam Admi Party (AAP), which they regarded as the mother organisation of which they were part of all along, with what they claim to be around 50-odd members exposing chinks in the nascent outfit. The decision to expand the movement at the State-level under the nomenclature ‘V4 Kerala’ seems to have triggered the rebellion. ....

V4 Kochi, the new apolitical outfit launched just ahead of the local body polls, has announced that it will expand to other districts shortly.
The organisation said that it will be launched across the State in consultation with like-minded people as an alternative to all prevailing political outfits and fronts. It challenged the Left Front government to publish all survey-related sketches and implementation of Section 4 (2) of the Right to Information Act.
The announcement came at an event named “Kerala Declaration” organised by V4 Kochi in front of the Gandhi statue near Rajendran Maidan on Tuesday. The event was attended by like-minded people and anti-corruption activists from various districts, a release issued by the organisation said. ....
