A magistrate court in Mehsana, while holding 15 guilty, including Vipul Chaudhary—Gujarat s former home minister and former chairman of Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd (Dudhsagar Dairy)—sentenced them to seven years of imprisonment. Four others, however, were acquitted by the court. The 15 are sentenced for offences of criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, forgery and abetment and causing a loss of Rs22.5 crore to Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), better known as Amul, in 2014.
