Telecoms firm Nokia has signed a multi-year global patent cross-license agreement with China's Oppo, the Finnish company said on Wednesday. The deal also includes cross-licensing for 5G standard-essential patents. Nokia and Chinese device maker Oppo have been in a dispute for over two years regarding 5G patent payments. OPPO and Nokia have settled their legal dispute over the alleged unauthorised use of unlicensed 5G patents by OPPO. The two companies have agreed to a global patent cross-license agreement, encompassing standard-essential patents in 5G and other cellular communication technologies. As a result of this agreement, all pending litigation in various jurisdictions will be resolved.

The terms of the agreement remain confidential. In a joint statement, Nokia said it will begin recognising net sales from this agreement, including catch up payments covering non-payment during the dispute period from Q1 2024.
