LOUIS — Normandy Schools Collaborative is looking for educators of all subjects for grades K-12. The district held a career fair at Barack Obama Elementary looking for the best to lead the brightest. "We need all types of teachers,” said George Barnes, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. “Not just teachers but individuals who love the opportunity and are willing to come in and partner with us to get our kids where they need to be." Barnes said this isn’t about filling out the ranks. This is about transforming lives and the community.

Kimberly Townsend tells us that The Leadership School is focused on helping students take the driver’s seat of their own educational journey. The school wants students to be leaders of themselves and leaders in their community. Their model is centered around the voices and needs of their individual students. The Leadership School offers a personalized learning experience to its students which means that they actually look at each individual student and what talents, strengths and skills they are coming in with. Each student will have their own individual learning plan.
First public charter school in St. Louis County approved by the Missouri State Board of Education The Leadership School will open in Normandy next fall after receiving approval Thursday, December 17, from the Missouri State Board of Education. The free, public charter school plans to serve students in grades K-8 residing in the 23 St. Louis County municipalities that make up the Normandy Schools Collaborative. The schoolâs model responds to insights gathered through community interviews over the past two years in which local families expressed their desire for a school close to home, with rigorous academics and a focus on personal development.
Steven Harmon joins Affinia Healthcare as vice president of human resources, equity and inclusion. Harmon earned his law degree from Saint Louis University; and masterâs of arts degrees in human resources and development, and in management from Webster University. Since 2018, he has served as the director of safety for the Normandy Schools Collaborative.   Harmon has served as in-house legal counsel for St. Louis Public Schools, a prosecutor in St. Louis County, and as a police officer with the St. Louis Police Department, achieving the rank of lieutenant. Harmon serves as president of the Mound City Bar Association and a board member for the Annie Malone Childrenâs Home.
