Wildfire that destroyed homes in Musselshell County has been contained Kitrin Crane and last updated 2021-01-15 13:33:35-05 Firefighters have contained a wildfire east of Roundup, officials said Friday. The Porcupine Fire broke out in the Delphia area east of Roundup on Wednesday and destroyed three homes and several secondary structures. The wildfire was pushed by high winds that swept through the state on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, the Musselshell County DES said in a Facebook post that the fire has now been 100 percent contained. Crews remained on scene overnight, a flare up occurred within the containment area due to the persistent wind conditions, states. This flare up did not threaten any structures. Crews are currently working this area to put this fire out and to search for hotspots located within this area. It is expected that by the weekend crews will have this all mopped up. ....
UPDATE: JAN. 15 AT 9:41 A.M. ROUNDUP, Mont. - Continuous winds flared up the Porcupine Fire, formally known as the Delphia Fire, within the containment perimeters overnight Thursday. According to a Facebook post by Musselshell DES, the fire is not 100-percent contained due to the flare up. The fire did not threaten any structures. Friday, crews are putting in effort to extinguish the fire and keep on the lookout for hotspots. Mop-up is expected to be done by this weekend, Musselshell DES wrote.
