Our Reporter Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): Despite major reforms in the mining sector in the country, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the north-eastern states are yet to make a mark in the mineral block auction regime. Rio was speaking at the 1st Northeast Geology and Mining Ministers’ Conclave at Niathu Resort, Chümoukedima on Monday. He expressed hope that the deliberations at the conclave would lead to important policy decisions, and the mineral resources would not remain as mere potential resources but form the backbone for economic growth and development of the region. He added that this conclave will open a new chapter in the history of mineral exploration and mineral development in NE India. While assuring to pay the amount in advance to all the NE states following submission of a proposal, he urged for ‘good performance and results’ from the states.
