India News: Northern Command chief Lieutenant-General Upendra Dwivedi will take over as the new Army vice chief on February 15, while he will be replaced at Udham.
Lt Gen Dwivedi said that the slain terrorists were involved in the killing of innocent civilians in Dangri, Kandi and Rajouri.
This was the first interaction between DGP Swain and Lt Gen Dwivedi since the former took over the charge on October 31.
In recent years, the Pir Panchal region has seen persistent counter-insurgency operations. A recent operation in Rajouri resulted in the death of soldier Ravi Kumar and two militants. Tragically, the operation in Gadole forests claimed the lives of Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and DySP Humayun Muzamil Bhat, who left behind a 42-day-old son. The situation in the Pir Panchal range remains challenging, with continued attacks and calls for dialogue to end the violence.
He said a similar mechanism will also beĀ strengthened further 'to completely eliminate the support and information system of terrorists'
