The Swampscott Board of Selectmen closed the warrant on Monday, May 3 - just two weeks before the big meeting convenes. The warrant constitutes Town Meeting’s official agenda. The Falmouth Select Board on Monday night, April 26, expressed its frustration over the lack of information available at Town Meeting that might have caused an article to fund renovations of the police station to fail. Following the finance committeeâs advice, Town Meeting members rejected the article, which sought $1.1 million. The finance committee recommended indefinite postponement of Article 12 on the warrant because members were not given details on the cost estimate. âI do want to apologize to Town Meeting members, the finance committee and the select board for placing you in a difficult and awkward position regarding this important renovation project due to the late timing of our receipt of the final cost estimate,â Town Manager Julian M. Farming Falmouth has its eye on a two-lot, 4.86-acre parcel of land on Old Meetinghouse Road directly across from Tony Andrews Farm, which was listed for sale on March 1. Most of the land on the parcel, which has a steep slope at the back leading to a Handy cranberry bog, is âprime agricultural soil,â Farming Falmouthâs board of directors vice president Ellie Costa told members of the Agriculture Commission at Monday nightâs meeting, March 29. Farming Falmouth would like to purchase this land, which is owned by Tom Arnold, with a vision that it be used in conjunction with Tony Andrews Farm, which was acquired by the Town of Falmouth and The 300 Committee Land Trust in February 2018 to save the townâs largest remaining farm from development. ....
