The GNR have successfully rescued 25 animals from an illegal kennel located in Castelo Branco.
In a press release, the Castelo Branco Territorial Command said the rescue of the animals was done through the Environmental Protection Nucleus (NPA), on 13 April.
"Following a complaint, the GNR went to the site where they verified an unlicensed kennel," reads the press release.
According to the GNR, the operation had the collaboration of the municipal veterinarian of Castelo Branco.
They "rescued 25 dogs, 12 of which were still puppies, in facilities without conditions, with small spaces and without sunlight".

The Minister of Internal Administration has said that the reforms the Government is making in the PSP, GNR and SEF are “the most profound transformations” carried out in the security forces “for many years”.
“The Government’s programme includes reforms of the SEF, PSP and GNR which are the most profound changes in the security forces for many years,” Eduardo Cabrita told members of the Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees Committee.
The way in which the restructuring of the Foreigners and Borders Service will be carried out has been questioned by all opposition parties, particularly the PSD and CDS-PP who criticised this reform and demanded that the changes to SEF be discussed in Parliament.
