An occasionally interesting but ultimately unsuccessful debut feature from writer/director Iris K. Shin.
Sandra Oh stars in Umma, a horror movie about a woman haunted by her mother, and by the possibility of turning into her mother. It’s poorly paced and not very scary, but the real problem is that its themes were done better in movies from Hereditary to Pixar’s animated feature Turning Red. Umma is in theaters now.
