THE first batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is leaving Israel on Monday, an official from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Saturday.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has lifted the deployment ban for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the Federated States of Micronesia, an island nation located in Oceania. This decision is based on the issuance of a Certificate of Compliance by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, which guarantees that the rights of foreign workers are protected in Micronesia. With this certification, the DMW is able to ensure that the deployment of OFWs to Micronesia will be carried out in accordance with Republic Act 10022.
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered government agencies to come up with strong repatriation plans for the Filipinos fleeing the conflict in Israel and assured assistance to those who would be brought home.
ILOILO CITY: Eighteen overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Iloilo were monitored safe in Israel amid the armed conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of this city reported.
“I would like to express my sympathy to the family [of the victims] and to all Filipinos. One of them had the opportunity to run away but she decided to stay with the grandmother she was looking after,” Deputy Chief of Mission Esty Buzgan of the Israel Embassy in Manila said.
