Zambo Peninsula marks 93% Covid-19 recovery rate

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) has reported that the region has registered 45,754 recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) since the pandemic started last year, representing a 93 percent recovery rate. The DOH-9 data showed that as of Friday afternoon, the region has registered 49,118 cumulative cases of Covid-19, with 45,754 recovered cases, 1,150 active cases, and 2,214 deaths. The regional health office said Zamboanga City recorded the highest recovered cases with 20,656, followed by Zamboanga del Sur with 10,802; Zamboanga del Norte, 9,272; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3,825; and Isabela City, 1,199. It said Zamboanga City also registered the highest confirmed cases with 22,043, followed by Zamboanga del Sur with 11,364. The confirmed cases in the other areas of the region were tallied with Zamboanga del Norte having 10,256; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,107; and Isabela City, 1,348. Currently, the province of Zamboanga del Norte has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases with 458, followed by Zamboanga City with 398; Zamboanga del Sur, 120; Isabela City, 96; and Zamboanga Sibugay, 78. The DOH-9 data showed that 52.7 percent of the total 1,150 active cases are asymptomatic, 33.3 percent have mild symptoms, 8.8 percent are moderate, 4.5 percent are severe, and 0.7 percent are critical. Zamboanga Peninsula has registered a total of 2,214 deaths, according to the DOH-9. Zamboanga City is on top of the list of deaths with 989; Zamboanga del Norte, 526; Zamboanga del Sur, 442; Zamboanga Sibugay, 204; and Isabela City, 53. Meanwhile, Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-9 assistant director, on Friday urged the residents to participate in the second round of the National Vaccination Days from December 15 to 17. "I call on the residents of the Zamboanga Peninsula to unite and take part in the extensive vaccination drive that will take place in those days," he said in a statement. Alpichi, on behalf of DOH-9, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the different sectors and stakeholders for their support that led to the successful first round of the massive national vaccination activity held from November 29 to December 1. DOH-9 to inoculate 700K in 3-day nat'l vax drive

President Rodrigo Duterte signed on November 24 Proclamation 1253 declaring November 29 to December 1 as the "Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Covid-19 Vaccination Days." Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-9 assistant director, said Monday they were aiming to inoculate 230,338 individuals daily to realize the target goal of 691,014 in three days. The daily inoculation target in the Zamboanga Peninsula includes Zamboanga City, 38,992; Pagadian City, 11,800; Isabela City, 7,912; Dipolog City, 4,648; Dapitan City, 4,301; Zamboanga del Sur, 59,108; Zamboanga del Norte, 55,561; and, Zamboanga Sibugay, 48,016. "Priority will be given to those who did not yet get their vaccines," Alpichi said. However, he said that those scheduled to receive their second and booster doses will also be accommodated. Meanwhile, the city government here has mobilized all available resources to ensure the success of the three-day massive campaign to boost the immunization of the eligible population. Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has tasked Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, local Inter-Agency Task Force in Emerging Infectious Diseases chief implementer, to tap all city departments, the security sector, and the barangays and private groups to help the city health office achieve its goal of vaccinating 38,992 individuals daily. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, has activated 50 vaccination centers to cater to walk-in vaccinees coming from the pediatric and adult eligible population. "These vaccination sites comprise different health districts, schools, malls, and government and private hospitals," Miravite said Monday. Senior citizens in Zambo Peninsula urged to get vaccinated

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) has urged senior citizens anew on Wednesday to submit themselves for vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-9 assistant director, made the call after observing that the number of fully vaccinated senior citizens has yet to reach 50 percent of the 23,488 total eligible population for the elderly here. Alpichi said they have recorded 111,557 senior citizens who were fully vaccinated since the vaccination program started in March this year. The figure represents 46.97 percent of the total eligible elderly population. "We encourage our elderly to get themselves vaccinated since there is a low turnout for the A2 priority group which has yet to reach 50 percent," he said. He noted that the senior citizens under the A2 priority group were among those who were given priority under the vaccination program since they are vulnerable to Covid-19 infection. He said 603,592 individuals representing 31.59 percent of the 1,910,400 total eligible population here have been fully vaccinated since the vaccination rolled out in the region. He said most of those who have been fully vaccinated or 230,212 vaccinees were persons with comorbidities belonging to the A3 priority. The rest of the fully vaccinated individuals are under the A4 group (workers in essential sectors) with 144,092; A2 (senior citizens), 111,557; A1 (healthcare front-liners), 53,556; A5 (indigents), 47,300; and, expanded A1 (family members of health care front-liners and out-bound Overseas Filipino Workers), 16,875. Meanwhile, Alpichi said a total of 663,341 individuals representing 34.72 percent of the 1,910,400 total eligible population have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines. He said the region has so far received 2,350297 doses of vaccines since immunization rolled out in the area in March this year Of the total doses, 1,075,638 are Sinovac jabs; Pfizer, 698,490; AstraZeneca, 305,849; Moderna, 127,920; Janssen,109,200; and, Gamaleya, 33,200. Zamboanga Peninsula posts over 38K Covid-19 recoveries

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) has so far registered 38,356 recovered cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health - 9 reported Friday. The DOH-9 said the figure represents an 83.81-percent recovery rate as the region has recorded a total of 45,760 cumulative cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic last year. The data also showed a total of 5,248 active cases and 1,948 deaths. This city registered the highest confirmed cases with 19,937 followed by the province of Zamboanga del Sur with 11,229 cases. The rest of the areas with confirmed cases are Zamboanga del Norte with 9,601; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3,966; and Isabela City, 1,027. In terms of recoveries, Zamboanga City is still on top with 16,602, followed by Zamboanga del Sur, 10,324; Zamboanga del Norte, 7,125; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3.458; and Isabela City, 847. This city also has the highest number of active cases with 2,461; Zamboanga del Norte, 1,965; Zamboanga del Sur, 485; Zamboanga Sibugay, 195; and, Isabela City, 142. The region's 1,948 Covid-19 deaths are broken down as follows: Zamboanga City, 872; Zamboanga del Norte, 420; Zamboanga del Sur, 420; Zamboanga Sibugay, 198; and Isabela City, 38. Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-9 assistant director, reiterated Friday his call for the public to strictly comply with minimum health protocols to protect themselves from Covid-19 infection.
