The Band leader Robbie Robertson is dead
Robbie Robertson died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a long illness. He led the Canadian-American group The Band to major rock success in the 1960s and 1970s. He also collaborated with Bob Dylan and wrote the music for many films. Robertson was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1994. The Band is considered one of rock's true greats and Robertson was behind many of the band's classic hits, such as "The shape I'm in" and "The night they drove Old Dixie down"
