Word. new york governor kathy hochul delivered some bad news to new york that is not actually new information. she changed the official count of covid deaths by using the cdc number instead of the state of new york's number as reported by former governor andrew cuomo. the cdc's number of total deaths from covid in new york state is 55,395. that is about 12,000 higher than the number reported by the cuomo administration. many of those deaths were nursing home patients who apparently suffered from covid and died but were not tested for covid. today, on npr, the governor explained the change. >> ...
