DSWD-NCR inks deal with 7th CRG, CRSAFP to boost 4Ps program toward food security

CALOOCAN CITY, May 7 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region today forged a partnership with the 7th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (7th CRG,  CRSAFP) further improving the Pantawid  Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) Program to include urban agriculture for food security in Metro Manila.
The ceremonial signing, that aims to increase the level of well-being of 4Ps program members, through the “Malasakit sa Mag-aaral and Raise to 1 Million Gardens in NCR of the 7th CRG, CRSAFP, was held at Barangay Talon Kuatro, Las Pinas City.

Troops from the 7th Civil Relations Group of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday visited the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman to inspect their urban gardening project.
The visit was conducted days after the Department of National Defense (DND) decided to unilaterally abrogate the accord with the university banning military and police forces inside the campus if there is no coordination.
In a photo posted by GMA News reporter Chino Gaston on Twitter on Wednesday morning, military trucks and personnel could be seen entering the UP Arboretum.

An official of the University of the Philippines-Diliman on Wednesday denounced the entry of troops from the 7th Civil Relations Group of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines inside the campus to inspect their urban gardening project.
The visit was conducted after the Department of National Defense unilaterally abrogated the agreement with the university banning military and police forces inside the campus if there is no coordination.
“For us talaga, it was, para sa kanila ipakita na puwede na sila na pumasok sa campus and they did that and not just in Arboretum, I think, they also went in Village B,” UP Diliman vice chancellor for community affairs Prof. Aleli Bawagan, PhD said in Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras.”
