At CES 2020, OnePlus took time to show off a new device under a “Concept” category that wasn’t meant to be sold, but instead was a way for the smartphone maker to show off ideas it had been working on. The phone, dubbed OnePlus Concept One, had a slick tinting glass trick that we have yet to see in a phone you can buy, though that wasn’t necessarily the point of the phone. Since there’s no in-person CES to kickstart 2021, OnePlus is showing off their next concept a couple of weeks earl...

OnePlus shows off a color-changing concept phone based on the OnePlus 8T At CES 2020, OnePlus announced a concept phone based on the OnePlus 7T Pro. The phone, which is officially known as the OnePlus Concept One, was made in collaboration with McLaren. The highlight of the phone is its “invisible” rear cameras which become visible when an electric current is passed through the piece of electrochromic glass covering the sensors. It is a pretty neat trick that gives the phone a very unique look. Now OnePlus is back with another concept smartphone called the OnePlus 8T Concept and it too ha...

OnePlus 8T Concept: Some interesting use cases With the Concept One, the actions you could do with the electrochromic glass were pretty binary: on or off. OnePlus' new concept phone includes Electronic Color, Material and Finish (ECMF) to dynamically change color. The feature works in conjunction with the mmWave module at the back of the device to monitor your breathing. The design at the back will then change in tune with your breathing pattern. OnePlus isn't going to make this available commercially. Ever so often, I get a press release that I just doesn't make sense no matter how many times I go through it. This is one of those times. OnePlus just came out with a new concept phone, and it is interesting to say the least. The company took ...

OnePlus has unveiled a new smartphone dubbed the OnePlus 8T Concept. It was built on top of the OnePlus 8T to showcase some of the technologies OnePlus is working on. The OnePlus 8T Concept has a film under the rear glass that can change color. The film contains a metal oxide and can change its color depending on the applied voltage due to a change in the valence state of the metal ions. The color can smoothly change from silver to dark blue and back. The pattern on the back mimics the shape of the Pamukkale hot spring terraces in Turkey.
