Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi says necessary action is underway against terrorists
As Muslims in India observe Eid today, residents of Sangiote village in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district have decided to skip the celebrations following the Thursday terrorist attack on an Indian Army truck that killed five jawans. The vehicle was reportedly carrying fruits for an iftar gathering
Sources said the initial search operation was partially suspended Saturday in inhabited areas considering Eid celebrations, and it will resume in a day. The cordon continued to be in place.
Condemning the attack, Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday said “we are united against terrorism”. “Our deepest condolences to the families of 5 Rashtriya Rifle bravehearts. Our prayers for the injured personnel. We are united against terrorism,” Kharge tweeted.
According to locals, invitations had gone out to several people in the village of 4,000 for the 7 pm event, and arrangements were being taken care of by the Rashtriya Rifles unit.
