CITY councillors heard that the new Winchester Sports and Leisure Park has made a strong start.
In response to a question at full Council by Cllr Brian Laming, Cllr Angela Clear, cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, said membership was set to hit 3,500 in early July.
She said: I think we can all agree that the WSLP is something we can all be proud of and the visitor figures for June are outstanding given we are still in the pandemic.

Around 2,500 new members since pre-sales went live in March. Operators Everyone Active (EA) predicts it should reach around the 3,500-member mark by beginning of July. The target for the centre, in a mature year, (without Covid-19 restrictions) is 5,000 members.There have been 22,000 fitness bookings (a similar EA site, Hart Leisure Centre has had 11,000 fitness bookings) since June 1.
