Workers' Group, SWL Demands Justice For Commercial Drivers' Union, JDWAN Members Abducted, Attacked By Governor Sanwo-Olu-backed Hoodlums In Lagos Over Strike Action

  The Socialist Workers and Youth League (SWL) group has condemned an alleged attack on some commercial drivers in Lagos State under the aegis of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN) by hoodlums working for the Lagos State government. The group in a statement by its Chairperson, Frances Akinjole, and Secretary, Kelvin Ayemhenre, called for an immediate prosecution of those involved in the act. It added that one Ashimiyu Idowu, a leading member of JDWN, was also abducted by the hoodlums on Monday. ....

BREAKING: Commuters Stranded As Lagos Commercial Drivers Begin 7-Day Strike Over Extortion By Park Management

Commercial drivers in Lagos State under the aegis of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN), have commenced a seven-day boycott of roads in the state.   The drivers are observing the boycott over alleged extortion by the management of motor parks and garages in the state.   The protest left many commuters stranded on roads across the state as commercial buses were not available to board. According to the striking drivers, when they refuse to be extorted, they get arrested and have to bring the police with N10,000. ....
