The ballot initiative proposed leaving the Alpine School District to create an Orem-only school district.
Orem residents appeared to vote Tuesday against creating a new school district and split from the Alpine School District where it is currently attached.
In the entire Alpine School District, only 14.5% of students are Hispanic/Latino. That number for the 19 Orem schools is much higher, at about 29.03%.
