Belgian justice sentenced on Friday Mohamed Abrini, "the man in the hat" who had accompanied the jihadists who died as suicide bombers at Brussels airport in March 2016. The Assize Court referred to a previous Belgian conviction handed down in 2018 and did not want to impose an additional sentence. The court ruled that Abdeslam's participation in the preparation of the attacks was a related offence to the shooting that occurred on rue du Dries, Brussels, on March 15, 2016, when he fled a police search of one of the jihadist cell's hideouts.
