A horrified mother had to rush her bleeding 18-month-old son to hospital in the middle of the night after he was bitten by a rat while he slept.  Jane Hunter, 34, woke to screams from her toddler Rowan Smalley and dashed to find his bed spattered with blood coming from three teeth marks on his right hand.
