After cbs's lara logan was beaten and sexually assaulted in cairo, neil rosen who has written for "the new yorker" and others, lost his job for tweeting the following. lara logan had to outdo anderson, meaning anderson cooper, would have been funny if it happened to anderson too. here's what he had to say. >> how do you explain your tweets? >> i don't have an explanation, i was a jerk. 2:00 in the morning and i was being thoughtless, for getting that i wasn't just talking to a couple of people but talking to hundreds of thousands of people. >> elizabeth williams, what you wrote was appalling b...

>> so essentially, douglas, you lost a good amount of time that you could have been on the transplant waiting list, right? >> that is correct, sir. >> and kim, time is of the essence? >> it most definitely is. i will be very blunt in stating, okay, this holiday season, our family collectively, okay, we embraced it, not knowing if douglas would be around for another holiday to spend with us. there is no way that i would have put forth the effort to reach out to the community and ask for help. if we knew that, you know what? he's got coverage. this is absurd. >> the state medicaid official told ...

And it's troublesome. i really can't say that i don't know a lot of my female colleagues who haven't had something happen. i've had stuff happen. it's disgusting. but we've become complacent to it because we love what we do and it's part of the deal. just like you got knocked in the head. you're not going to stop doing it. it was unpleasant but you know it can happen and we sort of think it can happen, too. mr. rosen has heard it happen a lot, too. perhaps he was thinking it was one more of these episodes that we don't talk about. i never reported that stuff from the middle east, but i am writ...

>> uh-huh. and i wouldn't say the italian justice system, i would say a few people definitely it feels very personal. it feels like you're after our daughter and after us. someone commented on the radio it's almost like they try to wear them down. maybe if we keep at them they'll go away or go bank result or whatever. but it's not stopping us. >> will you? >> probably eventually. >> go bankrupt? >> well, i think we've mortgaged just about everything we can mortgage. >> they could face jail time if they're found guilty of libel, right? >> they could, but i didn't get the sense they thought this...

So we asked him on tonight to explain those contradictions. you can judge in a moment for yourself whether he is being honest. here's what he said on twitter yesterday. his first tweet about logan's attack was this, "lara logan had to outdo anderson, where was her buddy, mcchrystal?" he's referring to the much less severe attack i and my crew experienced in egypt. in this tweet, he also provides a link to the cbs news statement announcing the attack on logan. by saying she had to outdo me, he clearly appears to be aware the attack on logan was far more serious than the attack on me and my crew...
