Self-medication without proper diagnosis is risky, say deputy DMHO
In view of the spurt in coronavirus infection and casualties in Chittoor, the district administration has cautioned the people to immediately get them tested for the virus in case they show any symptom, and to get compulsorily registered with the ‘triage centres’.
Collector M. Hari Narayanan and Deputy District Medical and Health Officer P. Ravi Raju conducted a series of inspections on the community health centers in Karveti Nagaram, Puttur, Nagari and Satyavedu mandals on Thursday. ....

No dearth of oxygen, ventilators, says official even as cases rise in district
The daily average of new COVID-19 infections has crossed the 1,300 mark since mid-April in Chittoor district, taking the positivity rate close to 25%, causing a big worry to the district medical and health administration.
By April 22, the district witnessed the second highest number of 1.06 lakh positive cases in the State, and 935 casualties. As many as 93,900 patients have recovered and there are 10,318 active cases.
The COVID Task Force in the district is fully geared to meet any emergency situation, says District Medical and Health Officer M. Penchalaiah. The district is bestowed with massive COVID care facilities. We have the services of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at the disposal of patients. SVIM ....

Chittoor district medical and health officials launched the one-day ‘Tika Utsav’(vaccination festival) at 102 primary health centres and 18 urban centres all over the district on Wednesday, targeting those above 45 years of age.
A senior official of the COVID Task Force said that more than 50,000 persons were administered the vaccine. Of the 60,000 doses that the district had for the programme, a target of 95% was achieved by evening, and the remaining would be completed on Thursday, he said. ....

Officials inspect vaccination programme at PHCs and CHCs
The unprecedented spike in the COVID-19 cases in Chittoor district during the last one month, with 740 cases on Saturday, has kept the district administration on heels.
Deputy District Medical and Health Officer P. Ravi Raju, along with COVID-19 Task Force officials, has inspected the ongoing vaccination drive at the community health centres at Nagari and Puttur, and the primary health centres in Nagari assembly constituency limits. “As per instructions from the District Collector, we have been focussing on the border areas in eastern mandals,” the official said. Saturday’s tally was the highest the district has seen since September last. ....
