Districts in the central region began administering the COVID-19 vaccine for people over the age of 60 and those above the age of 45 with comorbidities in line with the instructions given by the Centre.
The public has the option to self-register on the CoWin portal or walk-in to the nearest government health facility or an empanelled private hospital in the district. While the government facility would provide the vaccination free of cost, private hospitals would charge ₹250.

Classroom activities were revived for students of X and XII on Tuesday in government and private schools in central districts after the sanitisation of buildings and other preparatory groundwork in the preceding days.
School heads said the campus had to be cleaned up and benches and desks re-arranged. Most of the schools, apparently, chose to keep laboratory activities in abeyance.

Vaccination against COVID-19 got off to a slow start in the central region with frontline healthcare workers administered the vaccines on Saturday.
The first phase of the vaccine roll-out seeks to cover doctors, nurses and paramedical and support staff.
In Tiruchi, the vaccination drive started with only four doctors receiving the validation message from CoWin (application developed to manage the drive) at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH). Doctors at the GH attributed the glitches to server overload and said it would be rectified soon.
