For close to a year, Uganda’s only bulk electricity purchaser, Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), paid thermal power producer, Electromaxx Shs3.6b for unsupplied power meant for Arua, an audit report has revealed.
The audit document seen by Daily Monitor, indicates that Electromaxx, which operates a 50 megawatt (MW) thermal power plant in Tororo has a six year power purchase agreement (PPA) with government through UETCL to supply electricity. ....

ACC has paid a compensation settlement to the China-based widow of an illegal worker killed on a building site while in New Zealand without a valid visa.
Yu Xingming died on a building site in
Hobsonville, Auckland, in May 2019 after falling to a concrete floor where he struck his head on wood.
A Worksafe NZ report obtained by the Herald through the Official Information Act shows Yu was in New Zealand illegally and was working illegally at the time he died. ....

Whanganui resident Neville Morris is frustrated the kerbside rubbish bag stickers he has purchased no longer hold value.
The Waste Management stickers were sold in shops and supermarkets until December 31, after which the company
ceased kerbside rubbish bag collection - something it first announced back in July.
He took two bags of rubbish with the kerbside stickers to Whanganui s Midtown Transfer Station, which is also owned by Waste Management, earlier this month but it would not accept the stickers. ....

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday demanded of the Government to make public negotiations between the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior, Shahzad Akbar and Broadsheet Company.
Talking to media, the PML-N spokesperson, Maryam Aurangzeb said the PTI Government had paid Rs4 billion to Broadsheet from national exchequer as payment for making fake recoveries.
Now, she alleged that Shahzad Akbar was holding talks with Broadsheet to secure upto 50 percent Commission out of Rs4 billion paid to the company.
Maryam said that negotiations were being held unofficially as there was no official agreement between NAB and Broadsheet. ....
