Indian IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar declared a taxable income of Rs 680 for FY 2021-22 in his nomination for the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat. His income sharply declined from Rs 10.8 crore in 2018-19 to Rs 5.6 lakh in 2022-23. He disclosed movable assets of Rs 9.26 crore and immovable assets valued at Rs 14.4 crore. Chandrasekhar is contesting against Congress's Shashi Tharoor and CPI's Pannian Raveendran, with polling starting on April 26.

Tharoor arrived at the district collectorate in the afternoon along with senior party leaders, including MLA M Vincent, V S Sivakumar and Thiruvananthapuram DCC president Palode Ravi, and other workers. Before filing his nomination, Tharoor offered prayers at famed shrines in the constituency, including Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple and Pazhavangadi Ganapathi Temple.

He scored a hat-trick in the 2019 general election by securing a margin of 99,989 votes over his nearest rival.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor may have been showered with titles like 'global citizen' at platforms ranging from nations’ leagues to Nair society leagues (aka karayogams); he may have been welcomed and facilitated at global stages more times than we can count. Nevertheless, the District Congress Committee office of Thiruvananthapuram has long been a ‘Tharoor-free’ zone
