Rajasthan s Jats, who hold over half of the assembly seats, lack a statewide leader. Hanuman Beniwal aims to fill this gap by establishing himself as a third force in the state s bipolar politics. Jats influence around 70 assembly seats, with 50 playing a decisive role. However, Rajasthan has never had a Jat chief minister. The two dominant Jat dynasties, Maderna and Mirdha, are limited to two or three areas.
Rajasthan is a unique state in several ways. It has produced both landslide victories and hung Houses, and four Chief Ministers have ruled the state for more than 50 years among themselves. Its political history for the last quarter century has been dominated by Ashok Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje
The BJP has been accusing Gehlot of indulging in appeasement, apart from lashing out at him by raising governance issues such as the cases of paper leaks and increase in rape cases.
