Bangladesh has imported some 1.5 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat from India since the country banned exports of the grain last month. The numbers were revealed by Indian Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey, who was addressing a press briefing, on Wednesday, reports Indian media. Pandey said, "There are many countries [which have requested import of wheat from India].
India has exported 1.5 lakh tonnes of wheat to Bangladesh since the country restricted the export of the grain on May 13, according to the Indian Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution on Wednesday said major edible oil brands have lowered prices by Rs 10-15 per litre as the government made timely interventions on multiple fronts to control prices that spiked due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
On plans to ban wheat flour (atta) export, Food Secretary Sudhansu Pandey said the government is monitoring the situation and would take steps at appropriate time.
