Small green bins have been popping up around Auckland as the council's scheme to recycle leftover food scraps kicks into action. Residents in west, north and central Auckland have now got their bins, with the full rollout to be completed by the end of October. But not everyone's thrilled about the new scheme. You might know someone who's a diligent recycler, and makes sure their soft plastics are bagged up and dropped at their designated supermarket bin. But for many, plastic waste like chip packets, bread bags and thin plastic packaging gets put in the too-hard basket, i-e. the rubbish bin.
